    Default How to rip books from your Kindle / iPhone / iPad

    OK now I did check with a MOD first but if this thread is not allowed please remove

    I thought I would put this together as eBooks/Readers are becoming more and more popular (I have a Sony PRS505) and finding that certain book is not always the easiest. Amazon’s Kindle seems to have the best support, although they are DRM protected (I have the app on my iPhone) but I want to read it on my Sony. This guide will allow you to extract you purchased eBook from your Kindle/iPhone/iPad and read it on another device (which you obviously legally own)

    Software needed
    iPhone Explorer(if Extracting from iPhone/iPad) - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    Active Python - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    eBook Utility - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    MobiPocket (if extracting from a Kindle) - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    Calibre - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Find your Devices PID
    Make sure you Install Active Python
    OK first you need the PID of your Device. For a Kindle open MobiPocket and the Device PID is listed under the General Tab.

    On the iPhone/iPad open iTunes and click on the device and under summary you will see the Devices serial number, Click on the word Serial Number and this changes to Identifier UDID. Note this number down (40Chrs).

    Open a Command Prompt and cd to the eBookUtility0.6a-win folder.
    Type
    kindlepid.py followed by your UDID

    eg
    Code:
    Kindlepid.py 1234567891234567891234567891234567891234
    Note the PID it creates (IBNSICQX3Q)

    Extract Book from Device
    Open iPhone Explorer and browse to the directory
    Root Directory/private/var/mobile/Applications/APPID/Documents/eBooks - the APPID will be a long string of numbers, you have to click through each on until you find the Kindle App.
    The books are named BLAHBLAH_EBOK.azw drag this file to your PC, As this file is DRM protected you will need to remove this before you can use it on another device.
    In the eBookUtility0.6a-win folder create a txt file called ebook.props and enter the following lines in it.

    Code:
    PIN= IBNSICQX3Q
    Serial=1234
    You can put anything for the Serial

    Now run the file eBookUtility.exe
    1. Press BROWSE and select the file you extracted from your reader (BLAHBLAH_EBOK.azw)
    2. Press BROWSE and select where you want to save the file and add .MOBI as the file extension (BLAHBLAH_EBOK.MOBI)
    3. Press Strip DRM

    Thats it you now have a DRM free copy of your book. If you need it in another format then download Calibre - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and convert to whatever format you like.

    Why don't you pay attention to the post from the banned noob, my response to him and don't jump all over an ancient thread, carry on and you won't last...

    What is it with these fuckers? Can't they come up with a meaningful thread of their own and ask a perfectly viable question of the forum members rather than post up idiotic responses. I dunno, kids these days, get off my lawn, etc. etc.

    Got any good ideas where to find the EbookUtility program still? The link is no longer valid.
