Complete waste of time pre ordering at this time, I've done that before, forgotten and bought a game twice!

The only piece of software I've ever paid for on PC is WoW back when I played it.

let me have my 2p worth.

im very cynical of the gaming industry and the crap it churns out as full price rip off to be frank, however when a game is worth it i will buy it. for example i have all bioshock, all valve games, all battlefield series because you simply have to play most of those online apart from bioshock which is worth the money just for the single player versions.

i will allways support valve, i will allways buy battlefield games. i will also buy other games i really like and are genuinely worth the price.

As it's multiplayer, purchasing is required for login authentication. Much of the time I'll temporarily borrow the game for single player games from the usual locations and delete as soon a I've completed it.

As an example, I am particularly pleased to have not purchased Mafia II. Visually, it was very nice but the game was a complete let down. Not long enough and a particularly ungripping storyline. Certainly not a patch on the first one.

However, I do also have a large selection purchased titles. Those are the ones I know I didn't waste money on because they've been played numerous times.

No need to roll your eyes at me, it was tongue in cheek after all.

The way I go about it is like this. If a game is cross-platform, I usually just tend to download the PC version as my PC is a decent spec so can play most games as they're supposed to be played. I have my 360 controller connected for games that suit it also.

Games that are Xbox 360 exclusive usually tend to be released on PC so that's covered by the above.

Anything that is PS3 exclusive, I will buy as I do not want to hack it.

Now then, if a game comes out on the PC that is an absolute MUST HAVE for online play I will buy that too but as I've said the only game to cause a stir in my trousers for online play was WoW which I stopped playing over a year ago.

I've never played a Battlefield game but if you think that it falls in to the MUST HAVE category, you may convince me to part with my hard earned.

Battlefield is well worth the money and I agree with DET that there are certain games which deserve your money.

Also Det touches on some of these.

    Bit off topic

Now vavle are implementing Steamworks on the ps3.. and this starts with portal 2.. you get the pc version free with the PS3 and cross platform coop.

    VALVE OWN!!

Battlefield game are great, I used to whinge when I played them on the PC (constant updates made them feel a bit like a betas) but Battlefield 2 and 2142 were very good indeed, These days as a Mac owner I only play on consoles but while it's not perfect Battlefield Bad Co 2 is a stonking game. I may have to get a PC again when the new Planetside is released THAT was a phenomenal game in its heyday, I only hope they get it right because it was and still is the only game of its type.

The BF series is awesome on PC and is online authentication. Goes ahead of COD on pc after the shocking performance of Black Ops which is still buggy. Well worth the money!
