Old firm clash marred by footballing outbreak

Last night’s Old Firm clash has been criticised by the SFA after a football match broke out and ruined what was otherwise an enthralling fight between Scotland’s biggest clubs.

The SFA is to launch an inquiry after Celtic’s Mark Wilson recklessly scored a winning goal against Rangers when three other players were getting sent off amid angry pitch-side confrontations.
SFA Chief Exec Stewart Regan said, “I was saddened and deeply embarrassed to witness the goal mouth action during what’s supposed to be Scottish football’s flagship fight.”
“The SFA condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the inflammatory and irresponsible behaviour of those seeking to put the ball in the net at every opportunity.”
“Just three sendings off is a new low for us, and we’ll be taking a long hard look at ourselves as a result.”

    Old Firm violent clash

Regan went on to admit that the clash will have done little to enhance the reputation of fighting in Scotland.
“These images were broadcast around the world and shows our fighting in a very poor light,” he said in a statement.
“I can only apologise to those fans who tuned in hoping to see El Hadj Diouf torn limb from limb, or bleeding profusely from several gaping wounds left by the studs of an opponent’s boot.”
“We will be launching a full investigation to ensure that the sort of goal-scoring behaviour displayed by Mark Wilson will not be allowed to blight Old Firm clashes in the future.”
