I don't know whether you'd be able to identify me atm as I signed up, am logged in, and am posting in India (donn't mean to sound like a smartass; you're good at identifying banned-comer-backs and I know it won't last long as I'm not gonna be here in India for long) but if you can, I'd like you to let me stay with this account please and give me a chance and explain the situation. you know - I would really apreciate an explanation.

99.5% of people joining from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Russia, China, Nigeria, Korea, Vietnam etc (list is too long) spam or leech that's why and people who put false locations are instantly banned. You are instantly banned as you are a retard.

This was a good idea, but the spamming is becoming quite excessive and affecting the general use of the forum as so many people are trying to bypass the restrictions. Are there any other alternatives?

which will stop them joining about 80% of forums with the same email address or IP, I can slow down the time between making posts which I have been doing gradually as I don't want it to effect legitimate members.

I know a few members might find the increase in post spammers irritating but when you understand the reason for it then it makes more sense.

A while ago I moved all members with 10 posts or more to a new group called DF Member and set it so new members 'Registered' and members with less than 10 posts would be moved to that group once their post count reached 10 automatically eight hours after reaching 10 posts.

Once I had done this I restricted the rights of the 'Registered' members group stopping them posting in certain forums (radio code for example), not allowing them to send private messages, post visitor messages, upload or download attachments etc etc. I also introduced a hack to stop 'Registered' members and guests from seeing links.

The reason for all this was we had a high level of 'leechers' coming on grabbing information, downloads, links etc and either never registering or registering and never posting, this would not be an issue if the forum ran adverts but it does not and relies solely now on VIP payments being made so all the 'leechers' did was to use up valuable resources needed by members who contribute either with VIP payments or interesting and informative information.

The way I look at it now is when someone comes on and tries to spam out 10 posts of shit just to get a link or download which they never do it means they get banned, one less leecher gets what they want and more server resources are available to the people that deserve them so spammers of this kind don't bother me as the alternative is worse.

I have slowed down the time between posts but this is not usergroup exclusive so effects everyone, if I set it too high it would be noticed by legitimate members and all it really seems to do is take them a bit longer to spam out 10 posts, we are looking at fine tuning the system as we are aware it is not yet ideal but is better than losing a huge slice of the forums resources to leechers which has been the case.

Just to add to this:

New members and existing members with less than 10 posts can only make a maximum of 6 posts in a 24 hour period before getting a message telling them they have reached the limit so most 'new members' will be left and not banned as this is now self policing. If after 24 hours they return to post more shit they will obviously be shown the door.
