Bald Bouncer - A Tribute

As some of you may or may not be aware, my good friend and Digital Forums stalwart & legend Bald Bouncer has requested that he step down as Admin of DF.

He and the rest of the staff work very hard to keep DF running and believe me it is a lot of work on a day to day basis. However he felt that there were too many members who whine and complain and just flat out cause trouble that it was getting to be too much so decided to step down.

Personally i'm disgusted by this and can assure you that anyone who I feel is not acting in the best interests of our community will simply be deleted by me. It stops today.

I would like to thank BB for his service to DF, he has kept things running ever since I stepped aside from the day to day duties a number of years ago. However I now feel it is time that I should return to DF and try to pick up where BB left off.

BB won't be gone (I hope), he is still a VIP member and the door will always be open for him to return to his Admin status.

We have been good friends for many years now (since the late 90's) and that will never change. I would appreciate if you could all reply to this with your own message to BB. Perhaps tell him what he has meant to you and to DF - he deserves that much.

Well i have to say never had any issue with BB and IMO always was fair ! At end of the day its a forum and needs moderating not to mention all the extra work needed when Rap pissed off lol

BB you can be a bit head strong at times but thats what is sometimes needed to stop a lot of the crap that goes on with a forum of this size. Its a sad day when someone who gives so much time and dedication to something decides to step to one side because of what others say!

Those that have give him crap I hope you are happy. I do know that Rap wont be as lenient as BB is/was.

Hope you change your mind and come back to the status of admin soon.

It saddens me that BB has had to step down, he always reminded me of one of my teachers when i was a kid, strict but fair, and i respect that.

I fear that others will follow in his footsteps if certain 'dickheads' continue to bring the forum down.

BB has always been cool with me, always has something interesting to say, its ashame people are moaning and complaining, i dont quite know what about because this forum is a great place to visit on multiple occasions every day. some people just need to grow up and stop being nobs

Never had a problem with BB, always seemed even-handed to me. I have to say I do not envy even the mods here, let alone the admins, with all the egos, back-biting and just general moaning from the lesser mortals. Let's hope the tossers that ruined it for BB have the good sense to not return here.

It's sad that BB has decided to step down as a result of these individuals.

Disgraceful that a long standing pillar of the community feels this course of action was required.

Imo, BB has been a stout foundation of DF for as long as I can remember. I hope he stays here as I enjoy reading his opinions (on political issues in particular, I've learnt a lot from them) and comes across as a level headed, pragmatic and sound bloke I would enjoy a beer or two with putting the worlds to right in the process.

Admin'ing anything is a thankless task especially something like a BB with all kinds of users most who have no idea as to what time/effort it takes to perform such.

I'm not a mega poster but have seen many times you try and bring order - keep it up otherwise this place wont be what it used to.

All the best, keep your chin up and ignore the minority who make you wonder why you bother.

What a sad state of affairs that it has come to BB standing down, I have never thought of him as anything other than a "straight down the line" type bloke.

I don't really know BB (or any of the other Admin for that matter) as i've not been active on the forum for a long time. But forums don't exist without the help and hard work of moderators and administrators so thanks and credit to BB for the work he has done here.

It's easy as a standard forum user ('lurker') to overlook the whining and moaning that goes on at times, but obviously the moderators and administrators have a duty to manage that with the best interests of the forum at heart. Hopefully BB can now enjoy his time on the forum without that added responsibility on his shoulders.

It sure is a sorry state, the admins do a cracking job in keeping the board running. I can't imagine spending all day on a site whilst doing the day job and getting loads of shit for it. Lets not forget DF is FREE to use, with no adverts etc and we should appreciate what we've got here.

I know at times I have been an annoyance for talking shit (but that is all it has ever been - never malicious) but would never have wanted BB to go... always viewed you as a good and fair Moderator !!!!
Maybe in time you will reconsider !

So, I've been here for a while and I read forum multiple times a day and truly appreciate the effort and work that goes into keeping a place as large and as precious (to me) as DF.

BB has been here for as long as i can remember and, after Rap moved on, was more than able to fill his boots and keep the forum running without any of us regular users knowing of any glitches or issues. Everything mostly seems like it smooth running. I know that's most likely not the case from Staffs perspective - there are spammers, leechers and general forum fuckery to be dealt with and i see none of that.

I'm one of the quieter members here Bald Bouncer, but I'd like you to know that I value your leadership of staff, your fairness in decision and and your strictness in necessary judgement.

I hope you stick around, but the selfish part of me hopes you take a break, that the forum gets back on track and you take your rightful place in the Admin team working with Rap, 4ME2 and Mr Olympia to keep DF at least rolling on and, dare i say it, at most growing to be even better.

I was going to say a lot more but will just say that DF used to be a very tightly knit community that I loved being a part of. Now there are too many idiots intent on making every thread about themselves and talking out of their fucking arses. A thread rarely seems to stay on topic for more than 3 posts these days.
