    Help Strange login issue

As my laptop is off being repaired, the missus let me borrow hers.

She had a load of crap on the desktop cluttering the place up so i moved it all into her user/documents "freya ******* (surname)" folder on the desktop. All is well.

Installed a few updates and logged back on, to be greeted with what look like a blank OS, with just her user folder on the desktop "freya" - note only her first name.

Opened that up and everything i had just moved wasnt there! fuck i thought. navigated to c: users and into her folder and there it was, so i moved it all from that location to the "freya" folder on the desktop.

Logged back out, and now when i logged back on it has taken me into the original user account with all the bells and whistles, only, all the files i had just moved back are not in the "freya ******* (surname)" folder!! and now i cant seem to get back into the other "blank" account. Tried searching for the files but i cannot find them on the laptop, I know they havent been deleted for sure

Anyway, help me out lads before the missus finds out and goes off on one!

sounds like you have a few account local and windows accounts

Try logging in with her email address probably a @Hotmail.com

and as above check the users folder for the usernames

totallyandom - her normal login is her email account login.

its like i got a basic user account, and i trnsferred the user files from her normal account to that one. now i cant access the "basic" account. i know 100% the files arent gone, just hidden somewhere, or a location i dont have acces to from her email login account

If you go to User Profiles (Right click "MY PC">Advanced Settings> User Profiles)

Do you have any strange accounts in here?

I reckon it's to do with the ntuser.dat and ntuser.ini files which are hidden under normal circumstances.
You have likely copied them (or not for that matter). go into folder options and then view, uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files.

Sounds like you have moved them on to a temp profile and windows has delete them after you logged out

I think in future you should leave well alone. Fixing things that 'her indoors' doesn't know or care are broken is a bad move.

I second that, for may year of personally knowing him.

I have had to fix or correct a few things he has "fixed" and kicking something is not a fix no matter how many times you try

Do you know any of the filenames at all that you moved? Just go into the root of C: and do a search from there. Might take a while but at least it should show you where they now are..

EDIT - sorry, ignore me. Re-read your first post.

Might be a bit drastic but you could try a system restore and go back a few days if you can.
