Question HDMI 2.0 cables for 4K TV

    Hi All

Getting my Sony X8509C 4K TV today and was wondering if I need to get HDMI 2.0 cables to benefit from the upscaling that this TV offers? Or do i just need HDMI 2.0 for 4K capable boxes?

Currently I have my Virgin TIVO (1080p), PS4 (1080p) and Amazon Fire TV (1080p) connected to my current TV using HDMI 1.4 cables. None of these devices have HDMI 2.0 ports or can output to 4K.

So do I need to upgrade my cables for these boxes? Or will I be ok with my HDMI 1.4 cables?

Im looking to install Kodi on the sony TV as it has Android TV built in so will probably not have the Amazon box plugged into it as it does 4K Prime Video from an app built into the TV, and Netflix.

    Thanks

    Scottio

No point in getting any new hdmi cables as you've got nothing that can output 4k at the moment your 1.4 cables will be fine

    2 Thanks given to fanni
